Grub menu is too minimal

I am installing UM 20 on a Lenovo X1 Extreme. I am following the great directions from https://link.medium.com/SRzl9SekT5 to overcome the default Nvidia driver issue. I am lost on how to edit this or am I doing something wrong that this grub menu is not coming up?
