GTK theme lost since update of LibreOffice to 5.2

In the Software Boutique I set LibreOffice to always use the latest available version.
After installing today’s update of version 5.2 I noticed that the theming has reverted to the default, Windows 95-esque look instead of using the GTK Theme (Ambiant-MATE in my case).
Does anyone know how to restore the theming short of reverting to the stock Libreoffice that comes with Ubuntu MATE?

If I’m not mistaken, libreoffice 5.2 changes the way it themes itself. Do you have the adwaita theme packages installed? Try installing gnome-themes-standard and gnome-themes-standard-data.

The adwaita-icon-theme package was installed already by default, I tried it with adwaita-icon-theme-full, gnome-themes-standard and gnome-themes-standard-data added, but it still does not work.

Try to start Libre Office with :

export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk (Libre office command)

This unfortunately does not work either.

I found the missing package: libreoffice-gtk2. Installing that fixed the theme issue.

Thanks @maximuscore for finding the solution!

In case helpful for those new to Ubuntu MATE

  • Open a Terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T)
  • Copy and paste the following into the Terminal window
sudo apt install libreoffice-gtk2
  • Pressing Enter (keyboard) you’ll be asked for your password (Tip: characters will not appear).

After installation completes, you may close the Terminal window.
