I recently installed Linux MATE (I was using MINT for a long time and did not have the following issue) but since installing MATE my harddisk activity hasn’t stopped even though very little is running. I tried iotop-0.6 but the output means nothing to me. (BTW I have 6gb RAM)
does anyone have any suggestions where I can start.

This new machine I'm using sports a core i5 Skylake, and a hefty 16GB of RAM.
I noticed recently that right after startup, it's sometimes extremely slow, even for simple tasks such as opening caja.
Here's what my standard battery of indicators was showing during one such occurence:

I am running ubuntu-mate 16.04.1. I partitioned my harddrive so that my root (/) partition is 60 GB. Periodically during the day the Disk Usage Analyzer will pop up saying that I am running out of space in the / partition. In checking there will be over 50GB of files in the tmp folder. Of course, these are cleared out when I reboot. Is this a possible bug in ubuntu 16.04? Hello Guys,
I have been using Ubuntu MATE for a while and so far it has been smooth.
Some days ago my computer started to take long time (like to 2min) to open Caja, this only happens when i open it the first time, after that it will work normal.
So i searched in lots of places and didn’t find any topic related to this issue in any forum, that’s why I’m asking here.
So where can i start looking for Caja logs to start debugging this?
