I worked hard today.
I used Gparted and made a "fine mess" of things. But I did acquire some wisdom and learning.
I used my pen drive to be able to boot up and communicate with the world. 
When I boot up, I get a black screen with a horizontal blinking prompt.
What do you guys and gals need from me to help me fix this ?
When you try to boot, do you get the menu for which version of the OS to boot, and can you select the "safe-mode" option and get anything at all?

I regret to say that I am stepping away from this issue because the issue itself is apparently a moving target.
Hopefully, someone else is in a better position to understand what the issue really is ... that needs tackling.
