Help: I can´t uninstall Foxit Reader Software

Hi guys,

I installed Foxit Reader software cause I used it to have for editing pdf documents when I had Windows 10.
It worked well, but it is not updating the version and now freezes when I open any file.
I am trying to uninstall unsuccessfully.

Does anyone have an idea how to do it?

Thanking you in advance.
PS: I am new to Linux, and I am still learning.

How did you install it?

Here is the website I used to guide me through the installation.

This is a proprietary app that uses its own installer. I suggest you remove the whole /opt/foxitsoftware/ dir and remove anything in the .local/share/Foxit dir. They should have provided an uninstall tool.

rm -rf ~/opt/foxitsoftware/foxitreader/
rm -rf ~/.local/share/Foxit*

I used the commands you wrote down...
The subfolders were deleted from opt and I restarted the PC. The Foxit is still installed and working. Even so, the folders are not in the opt anymore.

Very weird.

Did you install in /opt or per the article in .opt (the dot makes a difference). If so,

rm ~/.opt/files......

This directory doesn´t exist.

Maybe see if it is installed with Ctrl Alt T and then
dpkg -l
Can scroll with down arrow or page down and look for fox???
Can hit x close when done.
Disregard this site seems to state it can't be found in this manor.

try this:

sudo updatedb
locate foxit

It should list the various directories where foxitsoftware is. The list could be long.
If you can paste the output here, it will help to decide how to delete.
