Hi everyone-- my first post, and my first time working in Linux. I’m taking a class “for the fun of it” and I need to come up with a project. I love snowboarding, and I’ve got an idea related to it.
Currently, Mt. Bachelor doesn’t have a very good way of showing wind-speed and win direction over time. They do provide hourly data, giving both wind speed and wind direction on their website. See here: http://www.mtbachelor.com/24-weather-report/ What I’m imagining is taking that numerical data and converting it into a sort of animation, simply an arrow that points a certain direction (i.e. based on wind direction, a number) and is a certain length/width (based on wind speed, also a number).
There is no way to download the weather data for a 24 hour period, other than simply downloading the whole .html file. I’ve emailed the host, hoping that maybe there is some way I can get it more directly (maybe in a .csv file, perhaps?).
Before I go any further, does this seem ‘do-able’ using Linux? If so, would you point me in any directions to start? Maybe there are certain programs or protocols that you might recommend.
Thanks kindly!
Ryan
