Home folder on the panel

Hi I’m new to Linux and Ubuntu Mate and I’ve been trying to place a short cut on my panel to my home folder but have been unsuccessful. Is there any way that I can achieve this.

Thanks for any help given.

If you have your home folder on your desktop, just try dragging it up to the panel. I believe that will put a launcher up there as well.

Thanks for that it worked a treat, it was about the only thing I hadn’t tried

Another way to do this is right click on panel and choose add to panel.
Then add custom application launcher.
For command entry put caja /path/to/directory/you/want

That’s great! But I recall there used to be something you could add to the panel that would create a drop-down menu of your home folder, and then you could navigate to sub-folders and click on the one you want to open directly.

Does anyone remember that or know how to get it?
Thanks!

Well there is the menu bar applet which gives you the Applications/Place/System menu… I don’t remember if you can browse to sub-folders with that but you can list your home folder in it. There may be a different applet too that does what you are describing but I’m not familiar with it.

You are describing the Draw applet. It is still there ,right click a panel, select Add to panel and choose Drawer.

Thanks, I was actually thinking of this old applet from the GNOME 2 days:

file-browser-applet

I don’t think there’s anything like it now available.
