What do I add to my hosts to stop these messages?
Unsubscribe does not work.
Wildcards probably do not work in hosts.

Please clarify the nature of the problem.
I want to block sites that send me unwanted emails for starters.
If you were thinking of using /etc/hosts as a means to block those, that is not possible.
You need to use either
- a Spam filter for your email client, or
- add the email address domains to your list of blocked senders, again in your email client.
The most extreme way would be to add a rule to your firewall to reject all packets form the IP for the originating domains.
On the first point, we can agree to disagree.
I will look up adding rules to my firewall.
