Hot Key to Disable Touchpad

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series laptop. The touchpad is very sensitive so I disable it for the most part using a USB mouse. However, sometimes I want to use the laptop without a mouse. So I am curious if there is a way to create a hotkey (or some other method) to toggle on and off the touchpad. Basically, I want to toggle on the touchpad when no mouse is available.

Checkout and install touchpad-indicator. You can set it up to disable the touchpad when a usb mouse is plugged in and then enable it when there isn't one. It's been working great on my setup.
