How can I fix not being able to move down by using my down arrow key
This does not work.
If your down-arrow works in other applications you can try to click on your window first before using any keys.
(If the window is inactive, because the focus is on another application, it will not respond to keypresses.)

Make sure your "Scroll Lock" has not been enabled.
