How can I hide mergent text box?

HI guys,

I just installed Ubuntu Mate and I have to say that I love the system, the way that everything flows in my old Macbook from 2006 is simply amazing. There are only a question that is driving me crazy. Can I deactivate the text box that appears when you point with the mouse in same places such as menus, icons, etc. I have diving for the whole system and I can’t find the option.

Are you referring to the tool tips when you hover over buttons?

If so, there is a way to "hide" them if you are using Compiz as the window manager: (Can be changed in MATE Tweak)

The instructions may be for 13.04/13.10, but they still work today, you'll need to install compizconfig-settings-manager, which will appear in System → Preferences → Look & Feel. One way is via the terminal:

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
