How do I make alsa the default audio driver?

I updated the kernel to the low-latency kernel, and it left pulseaudio not working, so I UN-installed it.
I would like to know how to make alsa the default audio driver.
I am using the snd-aloop daemon in Cadence, but I get a lot of xruns, even on pretty large buffer sizes.
I know my computer can handle audio, because it’s a recording machine.
2014 mac mini with an i7 3ghz processor and 16 gb of ram.
It runs Logic x perfectly. I am using an Apogee Duet interface.
Thanks in advance.

Hi @rkshades,
