How to bind closing Tilda to the Esc key?

We can turn on the pull down terminal Tilda. It uses F12 as the keybinding to summon the drop down and I think F12 is suppose to make it disappear as well... But, that does not always work. When it does not, you have to click on the panel and then press F12, erm... the mouse gets involved so what is the point.

Is there a way to hide or make it go away with the escape Esc key reliably?

I think it needs focus on it to detect the F12 key.
If you are on a other window, the F12 is getting detected by this other window.
