In my case I would like to hide Hangouts (green icon) because it annoys me.
Anyone knows how?
You should be able to right click and then Remove from panel.
Um, no. He can remove panel applets that way, but the annoying icon is being displayed inside of the notification area applet. Unless Hangouts has an option to not display it, his only other choice is to remove the entire notification applet.
