How to install my own manpage on Ubuntu MATE

I’ve created my own manpage (ppenv.1.gzip) to accompany a script I’ve developed.

It seems that moving ppenv.1.gzip to /usr/local/share/man isn’t enough to register it in the database. sudo mandb isn’t adding it. I can see /usr/local/share/man listed as a mandatory path in my /etc/manpath.config.

Never mind silly me. I forgot to create the /usr/local/share/man/man1 directory. That’s where man 1 pages should go. After creating that directory and moving the gzipped manpage there, sudo mandb added it just fine.

You have given me an idea. That would be an excellent place for all my terminal notes. Hopefully a point release won’t wipe it out.
