How to paste path into file selection dialogue?

Hi !

On 17.10 installation every time I need to open a file I get a file selection dialogue with no way I can see to paste a direct path to the file. This is often hugely faster especially when doing things like uploading a pic to Twitter as I usually have the pic already open elsewhere.

Is there a settings somewhere ?

If I’m understanding what you mean, you can press Ctrl+L to change the pathbar to a field where you can type or paste a path.

Ah, got it ! Thanks for that. Where are all these kind of shortcuts listed ?

I don’t think there’s a master list. In apps, you can look in the menus. In this case, many of the shortcuts of the open/save dialogues mirror the shortcuts of the file manager (Caja). Caja has the Go → Location… menu option. It’s also the same as most web browsers to go to the address bar.

Right. Gotcha. Thanks for the help !

Thanks, @elcste, I was ready to start a bug on the /org/gtk/settings/file-chooser/location-mode setting which has no affect. But this is a really good implementation I wasn’t aware!

Nicely answered my question. Interesting that there is nothing I can do with the mouse, but ^L works just fine. Thanks
