I inadvertently added “clippy” and just now discovered that it can be removed by dragging it to the install location.
I’m not using Plank anymore, but you could look inside Plank folder inside your and delete it there. I remember I couldn’t get a doc to stay and I created one inside the Plank folder.

No Drag it Anywhere in the desktop to EXPLODE it. 
Yeah just like the pinned apps are removed, Drag it and let it Go poof.
PS. I really like that animation of poofing.
