I messed up with mate configuration. So I would like to take everything back as if it was a fresh installation but I don’t an hard disk to backup. I tried to delete the .config folder but some things are still wrong. For example the Matemenu configuration that aren’t like in default and his icon.
Set up a new user account and log in as that user. If everything is running correctly then, whatever the specific reason, you can be sure that your problems have something to do with your original user account. In which case, if it was me, at that point I would log in as the new user and delete my original user account (making sure to back up any personal data first, of course). Then, whilst still in the new user account, re-create my original user account. Then, log into my (re-created) original user account and delete the temporary account I set up to fix the problem.
