How to restore Ubuntu Mate login manager?

I wanted to try Xubuntu experience on my Ubuntu Mate installation. I've done that by running

apt install xubuntu-desktop

I tried Xubuntu, didn't liked, so I removed it doing

apt purge xubuntu-desktop && apt autoremove

Unfortunately after reboot I still have awful black background login manager from Xubuntu instead of login manager from Ubuntu Mate with nice background and styling. Changing settings in "Login Window" doesn't affect anything and on login screen I seem to still have option to select either "Mate" or "Xubuntu session". Can anyone help me to restore nice, Ubuntu Mate login manager and ideally get rid of that "Xubuntu session" option, please.

Mate 18.04 32bit no Sleek Greeter Login as it is in 64bit upgrades

Upgrading from 16.04 to 18.04 on 32bit I observe that I remain with the same LightDM login instead of the new Slick Greeter one. Try on second system, same issue.

To solve this:

• go in folder “/usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d”
• and delete the "60-lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf "as it was not removed on install and it will overide configuration in already created file “50-slick-greeter.conf”
