How to test Deja Dup with Caja extension in Ubuntu MATE 14.04 and 14.10

I recently learned that Deja Dup, the backup application on included with Ubuntu MATE, has a Nautilus extension. So, today I ported the Nautilus extension to Caja.

If you are feeling brave, let the destruction begin :anguished:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-mate-dev/crazy-mate
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
caja -q

You’ll now find that right clicking in Caja to display the context menu has entries for Deja Dupe.

You can find the source for my modified version of Deja Dup below, I’ll be proposing an upstream merge soon.

Will this come to 15.04?

No

The Deja Dup author has suggested that the plugin for Caja be made standalone and not part of the main release. That will take a little time to create and I’ve missed the feature freeze deadline for 15.04.

Well now you have a headstart for 15.10

Just as an update. ill this be added into 15.10?

I like the idea of it for new Linux users.
My only problem with Deja Dup is that the last time my backup was corrupted and I lost a lot.

Marcos Costales has written a Deja Dupe extension for Caja and it will be included in Ubuntu MATE 15.10, hopefully in Beta 1.

has it been installed?

I just used the ppa and I don’t see the option to restore.
