How to unlock after ISO locks?

I think this is a bug: the screensaver kicks in on the ISO “Try out MATE” session, and asks for a username and password, very annoying. I couldn’t find online what the defaults are.

Usually ISOs don’t lock and are not password protected. Even if I do Ctrl-Alt-F2 I need to login…

I believe the username is ubuntu-mate, and there is no password, so just leave the password field empty and press enter.
