Howto Remove Minimize Button?

Does anyone know if there is a way to remove the minimize button? I can’t find it in any of the Appearance settings. I’ve searched in Google and on the forums and haven’t found anything. I thought it would be rather straightforward, but it is eluding me.

Why would you want to do that? Whatever… Here you go.

Applications, System Tools, dconf Editor. Then org, mate, marco, general, button-layout, click twice on the value to edit the button layout, remove minimize, press Enter. You should be there.

Thanks! Yes, I know it is an odd request. The reason I’m trying to do it, is because I’m using Compiz with “Ring Switcher” enabled. I’ve set Ring Switcher to activate with Alt-Tab. It works fine to display apps, but it will not show minimized apps. I even have the option “Show Minimized” ticked, but it still won’t display minimized windows. Yes, I know I should probably go file a bug for this, and perhaps I will get around to that, but for now I’m simply making a work around - not minimizing windows. While some might not like this, I believe that Elementary actually offers no minimize button by default. Again, thanks!

Thanks for your reply - you are entirely welcome. Your request makes sense now and my curiosity is assuaged.

I had the same problem with static switcher. You can add combination to swich between all windows, it will show minimised also. the comand is called “next window key(all workspaces)”. Just tried it.
