IBus doesn't change input method

I’ve enabled IBus support for rapidly changing the input method. Neither the keyboard shortcut nor the menu selection actually alters the input method. The visual indicator changes but the keyboard doesn’t change.

The only way to change it is to use the Keyboard settings in the Control Panel. In Language Support I’ve enabled IBus as the keyboard input method system - but there is no difference.

Any ideas what is over-riding this? Thanks!

Hi @jestew,

make sure you only have one language in keyboard settings, remove any unwanted languages you don't want/need!:

If you need more than one language, make sure the one you want to use with IBUS is set to default!.

I’ve got a fix for this issue and it will be released as a Stable Release Update for 16.04 soon.

It would be great if you’d in short mentioned what was the problem, like, if it wasn’t some global variable set, or something. It would be interesting for peoples, who came here on occasion, like me, and possibly even helpful.

Yes, that would be great! Does fcitx work for you in Ubuntu MATE 16.04? @jestew
