I am booting my Rasberry 3B with UBUNTU 18.04 for the first time. During the boot process, I am asked for a LOGIN and PASSWORD... I have no cue on what to put in there. Does anyone know what is the proper, initial login information?

UM installation process asks for a login a password. If you've installed UM by yourself do not hesitate to use these credentials. In the case of pre-installed system default login and password have to be documented by OEM somewhere...
You could have helped had you said where you downloaded, and which version you used.
In general the default on initial startup will be ubuntu and ubuntu, and you may be required to provide a new password
