Install "Classic" Ubuntu font on modern Ubuntu MATE

Something I had learned over the weekend is that you INDEED can get the old Ubuntu font back in Modern UM (in my case 25.04).

It seems as though UM 24.04 and newer have an updated Ubuntu font which may look sleeker (i.e., thinner), but not necessarily to everyone’s tastes. If you run in your terminal:

sudo apt install fonts-ubuntu-classic

APT will install the classic Ubuntu font and uninstall the modern one.

To save time, I found the following screenshot on How to Restore the Old Fonts in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS | UbuntuHandbook.

The updated Ubuntu font is slightly thinner/slimmer than the older or what I called “classic” Ubuntu font.
