So after google dropped support for 32bit chrome AND stopped offering it altogether, I found myself searching the universe for one of the final builds. You would think somebody out there woulda kept a file handy but not really. It took hours but finally someone gave me a link to a google-chrome-stable_current_i386.rpm file. Problem is I don’t know how to get this installed and I absolutely hate terminal commands with a passion. I’ve installed alien to try and convert it to a .deb but none of the commands work (as usual) and I’ve also installed smart package manager which does nothing but show system files WTF? how is that smart? Anyhoo, right clicking the file just give the option to extract, which is also totally usless.
(sigh)
Why oh why can’t someone make a comprehensive all inclusive GUI installer for .deb .tar and .rpm files? Seriously.
Anyway I’ll post the link for chrome 32bit below if thats allowed and if someone can let me know how to do this, would much be appreciated.
no, this is a fresh install of ubuntu with chromium installed. Chromium does not have the drm/er? module that allows netflix to play. Chrome does not come as a .deb file. which is why I am having a hard time.
DUDE, HOW DID YOU FIND THIS MIRROR! It took me two days to find that lousy .rpm file, but this is a perfect find. Its installed!!! Thank you very much. Now to make sure netflix still works…
Just for reference, .deb are debian packages, while rpm are used in other distros like Fedora and SUSE. I’d really not recommend forcing them to install - It may not even work as they would need converting.
I’d suggest using Chromium instead - you can install the Flash Player and PDF viewer plugins, if that’s the reason for sticking with Chrome.
Thanks but I knew that. Support is not the issue, its netflix. Chromium does not have the DRM module to play netflix while chrome and firefox do. Firefox unfortunately seems to be getting slower and slower even after refreshing and reseting extensions. Chrome is the only fast browser now for 32 bit machines if you also want netflix.
I have chrome 32bit build 48 now installed and its flawless.

I have chrome 32bit build 48 from v3xx now installed and its flawless.
I looked at that link. Getting chromium working with netflix was my first course of action, but once you chase down those apparent “fixes” they always lead to pages with answers but no download Or plain dead ends. If I had a dollar for every download that ended in 404 page error. Erg!
Anyhoo, your mirror was great. Chrome it working and netflix is fully op.
I had to install UMATE and Chrome on my buddies old 32bit PC, but the link you provided seems to be down now. Guess I shoulda saved the damn file. Ah story of my life lol
