Invalid magic number

I am trying to install Ubuntu MATE because and have encountered this issue when trying to boot it from my USB.

All my steps:

I partitioned 40 gigs of hard drive space using Windows disk manager.
I imaged the ISO file to my USB using Rufus.
I restart my computer and tried booting from my USB.

Help?

Hi Kaden_V,

did you switch UEFI/secure boot off?, did you create a UEFI boot sector on your HDD?.

I switched secure boot off.

I’m not sure what you mean by creating a boot sector though. How would I do that?

Hi
You should:

  • Check the integrity of the .iso file you downloaded (There’s a link to a page on how to do that on the download page and we provide sha256sum checksums for the files)

  • Try and re-image your USB key, or use a different key
