Invoke mate menu from command line or shortcut

I use Openbox as my window manager along with Mate. I like to use the keyboard as much as possible and I know I’ve seen the command I need, somewhere…someplace before, I just can’t find it.

Ideally, I’d like to bind a key-binding with the pop up of the menu.
I’ve looked at all the options under mate-menu mate-panel (on the command line).

In gnome2 it used to be gnome-panel-control --main-menu, I belive.

I know it’s there, just doing my head in that I can’t remember.

Have you tried Alt + F1?

That wont help, because I need to tell openbox what the command is to open the menu, in the openbox rc file.
Kind of like when you create an alias for some command.

What I need is the command that is called when you hit the key binding of alt-f1

Ah, I see.

Sorry, then I cannot help you further…

I’m not sure that I understand what you’re trying to do, but try this command and see if it’s what you’re looking for -
