Hey Community, I have my Asus X540YA device with AMD processor. Is there any effects can be affected to my device when i Install Ubuntu Mate 20.04?
None that I know of. I had an ASUS F3M with an AMD Turion, and it ran fine (I mean it was slow, but that's just that laptop (It's old)).

The only thing to watch out is if it is a Ryzen processor it may randomly crash (It's a kernel problem that's fixed in 5.6 which will probably be available through the hwe stack in the future ), however I haven't had a crash on my ASUS AMD laptop maybe since the beta release and I've been on 20.04 since it was a daily so maybe the fix has been back ported, but it shouldn't permanently hurt your device in any way
