If you right-click the battery icon and select “preferences” and then select the General tab, i’m pretty sure that’s where there’d be a checkbox or equivalent if it was possible. Not to say it’s impossible, but it looks like somebody would have to tweak that dialog and write some code to make it “possible” OOTB via some GUI interface.
Personally I run my laptop on battery maybe 5 hours a day and at the end of that time it usually says there’s 4-5 hours battery remaining, mostly because when i’m on battery i tend to snap the lid shut (set to suspend) whenever i’m not typing or reading. Think breaks are great chances to save battery, and i’ve found suspend to be quite reliable, though it does have to reconnect to wifi on wakeup.
I checked the preferences of the battery icon and such an option does not exist.
However, I found a workaround by using indicator-power
.
I added it to my startup application preferences:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/indicator-power/indicator-power-service
Good deal, how’d you find that? It would be nice to have but if i installed all the nice-to’s i’d never get anything done.
Well, I am just trying to restore whatever I am missing from Unity.
