Is there a way to get hibernate functioning on ubuntu mate 22.04.1

Over the years of the OS that shall not be named, I have become used to the convenience of hibernate instead of suspend. I searched for info on how to get it working and found the article listed below in the handbook.

How to Enable Hibernate Function in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

on UbuntuHandbook

I believe that I have correctly followed the instructions in the handbook... but I do not see the hibernate option on the dialog box when I click the shutdown device icon in the menu.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a known gotcha for ubuntu mate in 22.04 that will remain until a future update?

thanks,
Pacer

for reference, here is the URL for the article on Ubuntu Handbook

That's for Vanilla Ubuntu (GNOME). There is nothing useful for non-GNOME users.
