Is there anything about the license to be aware of when redistributing?

Hello.
I’m thinking of redistributing customized Ubuntu MATE image.
Ubuntu MATE image is great, so I want as many people as possible to use it with my favorite software.
My favorite software that I want to redistribute with Ubuntu MATE is BSD license or MIT license.

I read here ( https://ubuntu-mate.org/what-is-ubuntu-mate/ ), and I am planning to make an image file as followings:

  1. install Ubuntu MATE
  2. setup my favorite software
  3. create ISO image from HDD/SSD
  4. redistribute the ISO file on my website

Is there anything to be aware of the license or anything else when redistributing?

I’m a long time user of open source and other Unix systems. Although unfortunately i’ve never felt capable to be able to contribute back to the community.

I would like to do the same thing too, except I would like to sell computers running Ubuntu Mate. Anything Pentium 4 / AC97 / AGP has little chance to run well with Windows 10. But I have some other worries too.

I want to set up an /etc/skel or alternative defaults pkgs with the bar at the bottom, and the mate dock applet to show running applications, as per Windows 7 / OS X / Unity. I understand ZorinOS takes a similar approach, albeit based on Gnome 3.

But I am literally terrified of having a user interface lawsuit from Microsoft!

Also, would the Ubuntu Mate community be upset if i were to re-brand the distro? E.g. a plymouth theme with ‘distributed by …’ at the bottom, an alternative distributor logo, and alternative wallpaper? Happy to keep the Welcome centre the same - though i’ll admit that is because I don’t know enough Python!

I’d be happy to contribute a small amount of money from each machine sold back to the ubuntu mate community by way of a licencing arrangement. But again, I do not know how Canonical feels about such things.
