Is this network configuration possible?

Hello, i would like to know if you guys think this is possible or not:

  1. I want to have an ethernet connection to my laptop.
  2. I want to connect to a vpn service 24/7 from my laptop.
  3. I want to create a wifi access point from my laptop so i can connect my smartphone to it.

The goal of this is to have a vpn shared between multiple devices since the VPN i am using (NordVPN) works only for 5 devices and also because i want to have a permanent vpn connection, but if i set it up on my iPod Touch 4, the connection gets reset so my real IP becomes visible for a second or 2.

If it is indeed possible, could you provide me some links to help me figure this out? I am using Ubuntu MATE 16.04.1 (32-bit), but i am very bad with linux (i generally can’t come up with something by my own, i would have to constantly search on google).

Thanks for your help guys!

The sharing of an internet connection between to machines is definitely doable. I do it myself for slightly different reasons. In my case, Virgin Media, who are my broadband supplier, throttle Linux connections. I kid you not. Unfortunately, they are the only supplier in my town who provide super-fast broadband. So, I am stuck with them.

The way I have got round the above problem is by having an old MS Windows notepad wirelessly connected to the router. Then, use an ethernet cable to share the notepad to my Linux desktop machine. That way, my Linux machine get full speed internet access.

I also use a VPN and have it installed on my Linux desktop machine. However, I could just have easily installed it on my Windows 7 Notepad. My Linux machine would then have piggybacked on this VPN and shared in its benefits.

To connect two Linux machines together to share one internet connection, see below:
