I am not a fan of any type of walled garden, be it Apple or Google or whatever, but I have to use a phone and currently use the iPhone out of necessity.
I am starting to see windows apps that are wrapped in wine in a snap package that can run on Linux. Does anyone know if this is hypothetically possible to do this with the Windows version of iTunes?
Just curious.
If you can make snaps with other Windows apps and WINE, I don't know why not.
That certainly would be a interesting concept for anyone with a iphone. Perhaps better than having a windows VM for that purpose.
Yeah, just never been able to make it work under wine or playon. Every thread I have read that has alluded to success seems to be unsubstantiated. I think snap or not if it works, it works. Not sure if it is a fools errand or not.
@steven you got me thinking. A box in a box. iTunes in a Win7 VM in a snap.

A full Win7 in a snap would be a bit heavyweight, not to mention problematic licensing-wise.
As for packaging Windows applications in a snap, there is some work for that being done here: https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/call-for-testing-trackmania-nations-forever/5708

Thanks. Was just musing. I was thinking about the time I used xtogo on a Mac to my UM box and into a Win7 VM.
Tbh I don’t know how relevant iTunes is to me anymore. My NextCloud workaround and now podcast capability on Plex may have solved that.
I would expect it to be a pretty heavy snap, and yeah, legally messy.
I guess it is always possible. Thanks all for the replies.
The issue with iTunes in Wine isn’t necessarily functionality of the program itself, rather, it’s driver issues. iTunes uses some custom drivers to talk to Apple devices, and while the store and music playback work fine, I have yet to run across a solution for actually getting it to talk to iPhones and whatnot. I also foresee possible licensing issues with this software, as it is closed source, and Apple probably could not care less about Linux users.
I tried that and it did work… but now its back again. Could really use a way to resize the actual menu Fix Error 0x60 Or 60H of epson b-300 b-500 printer
