Kernel 3.16 on Ubuntu Mate 14.04 through upgrade/update?

Hey guys.

Is there a plan to backport the 3.16 kernel on an older 14.04 installation through upgrades/updates?
Some of us have spent a serious amount of time & effort to set up a kick ass 14.04 setup and I honestly
don’t want to go through a re-installation of my system just to get the 3.16 which is already included in 14.04.02

If not, is there a safe way to install the newer kernel?

Regards

If you want: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ I’m using 3.19.2 Oh! And other sugestion (safer) : watch the video that AJ Reissig did ; it’s at Google+

Rodrigo thanks for the reply.
I don’t want to mess with the stability so I was looking for a solution through official repos.
Can you send me a link to the AJ Reissig video on Google+ ?

Thanks again

It’s the Ubuntu MATE - Videos - Community - Google+ https://plus.google.com/communities/108331279007926658904/stream/92e8af48-54f6-4754-a4ad-5cde79f62a8a The video is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TihdNJvl7k – And the place that I wrote is the official source/repos ( Ubuntu-Canonical) . Good luck .

@gangelo This is the official way to install the LTS Kernel HWE stack if you installed from Ubuntu MATE 14.04.1 images
