Is there a reliable Kernel PPA out there, so it updates itself ?

I recommend Ukuu Kernel Update Utility.
It’s in the repository.
When you update kernel, keep the last one too in case you have problems with the new kernel.
Yep UKUU does look as an interesting tool - focused on Kernels.
What about signing in on Live-patch as provided through Software & Updates (just read something that is suggesting that) ?

I never tried live-patch, but ukuu is working really well. It works flawlessly, well at least so far.
