I’m not sure if this has been discussed anywhere else on here, but oh my goodness the new Inkscape has some massive improvements over the older version included in the official repos.
I noticed that on the “grid” wallpapers I made (posted in the art forum) you can’t even quantify the difference in performance. 100%? 1000%? Damn if I know, but it’s the difference on my laptop between making a sandwich between repositioning of that grid, vs dragging it around with no perceptible slowdowns. Just an incredible performance increase.
There also appears to be a lot of added goodies as well. Time to play
I’ve never used Inkscape, but your work an post has maked me curious (I hope, I can create wallpapers for UM, if I could find time someday). And just I added the ppa to my UM 14.4.1. and installed after inkscape with sudo apt-get install. But then I saw in official german ubuntu forum (http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Inkscape) the comand: Inkscape-trunk what is know the correct version with the ppa?
I found out:
Inkscape: 0.91r
inkscape-trunk: 0.48.x
That Trunk version appears to be the old Inkscape 0.48… you will definitely want the newer one.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:inkscape.dev/stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install inkscape (if not already installed and updated in the previous step).
Thank you! Then I’ve done it right! My Idea is to try to create a UM-Icon with an Yerba Mate calabash and the UM-Circle around it. But before, I have to write some studywork…
