Anyone else have this problem following the latest auto-update?
Mail seems to still be there but obviously the profile is toast and will need to be reconfigured.
What a blasted inconvenience! I’m somewhat peeved.
Thunderbird seems to have moved my existing profile to ~/.thunderbird/.default/invalidprefs.js and created a clean prefs.js. All my profile details were there in invalidprefs.js.
I just backed up invalidprefs.js (just in case) and then renamed it to prefs.js and it seems to have solved the problem.
