Locked Keyboard after lock screen

Hey folks,

I've got UM 18.04 running on my home "server" (it's running Syncthing and a few others things). Anyway, for the most part it runs really well, except for when I need to login to the GUI. I have a screen plugged into it, and when I turn the screen on, the keyboard is unresponsive and I have to reboot.

Here's a timline of what tends to happen:

  1. Boot machine and login (keyboard is fine)
  2. Do what I need to do, then hit super+l to lock the screen and turn monitor off
  3. Later (maybe a few days) I come back, turn monitor on
  4. Mouse is moving fine, but keyboard is unresponsive, can't click anything with mouse either
  5. Reboot and start the cycle again

Not sure where to start troubleshooting this, as I can't actually do anything when the problem is present (unplugging and replugging keyboard doesn't work).

Thanks all!

Just to confirm, is this a PS/2 or a USB keyboard?

If you can SSH into the system from another computer, watch the kernel log as you plug/unplug the keyboard. This might give some clues.

tail -f /var/log/kern.log
