Looking for an icon for my icon folder

I am trying to find an icon for my icons folder.

I can find icons for most anything else.

I tried making an icon from a screenshot of my icons folder, but it was unattractive.

What excatly are you looking for in a folder icon? You should be able to find something online.

then put the search to 'small'

You need it to be .png file and might need to resize the .png file to get what you want.
Example I found:
folder_file_icon_
folder_file_icon_96 × 96

I would like an icon that shows several icons in the icon.

Does that make sense?

I will do a search for a folder icon.

This is what I found and like. Thanks for all the help.

Use Gimp.

Import your folder icon as IMAGE 1.

Import your image of grouped icons as IMAGE 2.

With IMAGE 2 ...

  • STEP 1:
select the black "inter-zone" and set as transparent

  • STEP 2:
copy the transparent image from IMAGE 1

  • STEP 3:
paste that copy "As a new layer", LAYER 2 in IMAGE 1

  • STEP 4:
scale size of LAYER 2 such that the desire graphics fall within boundaries of the folder icon's graphics

  • STEP 5:
flatten by merging LAYER 2 (icons) down over LAYER 1 (folder)

  • STEP 6:
Now export the merged image as type "icon".

Voila! you have your new icon.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Make sure you start with images that are about 150 px for both images. Do all the work at the larger size, then copy the resulting image to a new image for each of the smaller sizes, then scale each of those images to the sizes you might need, i.e. 20, 25, 30, 35, 50, 70, 100, 120, 150. That way, when you use the "icons" option for directories, and you increase the size of icon displayed, you will have the icons that Caja requires for presenting you folder's icon at optimal size. OR ... use a tool that allow you do perform that initial work using SVG format at the 150px size, and let the system resize on its own, dynamically, as it requires.
