Low sound + Alsamixer problem ubuntu mate 18.04LTS

hi
somewhat new to ubuntu mate .having a problem with sound volume , have sound but low . i've got pulse audio and alsamixer installed but still only low volume . when i bring up alsamixer it shows no sound card . i'm learning commands in terminal so any help appreciated

Show us a screenshot of the "Hardware" and "Output" tabs in the MATE Sound Preferences. To open the window, right-click on the speaker icon in the panel and click "Sound Preferences".
