Make column width stay at setting for Package Manager

Is there any way to make Synaptic Package Manager keep the column widths that you set?

I did not see anything in Preferences.

Hi @fixit7, I think it used to remember but Synaptic has had some facelifts over the years and lost that in favor of always auto-sizing those columns. The configurations are in /root/.synaptic if you want to nose around.

One of my dislikes is if you, say, expand both version columns it will generate a “hiding” horizontal scroll bar that gets in the way.

I don’t know why but remembering things like window sizes and column widths are being ignored like never before these days. MateWeatherApplet is bad like that. :confounded:

synaptic.conf did not have any settings that I could see.

It used to much more configurable as seen here. (5 yrs ago.)
Shame on the authors. :slight_smile:
