Is there any way to make Synaptic Package Manager keep the column widths that you set?
I did not see anything in Preferences.

Hi @fixit7, I think it used to remember but Synaptic has had some facelifts over the years and lost that in favor of always auto-sizing those columns. The configurations are in /root/.synaptic if you want to nose around.
One of my dislikes is if you, say, expand both version columns it will generate a “hiding” horizontal scroll bar that gets in the way.
I don’t know why but remembering things like window sizes and column widths are being ignored like never before these days. MateWeatherApplet is bad like that.
Thanks.
synaptic.conf did not have any settings that I could see.
It used to much more configurable as seen here. (5 yrs ago.)
Shame on the authors.
