I used K3B to burn this download as a disk image, but it will not boot. Help appreciated!
I can only think that the download provided a corrupted file, because I can't see K3B not doing the job properly. One possibility is that the optical drive got "overloaded". If you slow down the burn speed, backing down a notch from the fastest possible, it may give the burner a chance to do a better job.
I would go back to the source and obtain the checksum value, then do the checksum on your downloaded file to make sure they are the same, to confirm the integrity of what you have downloaded.
Beyond that, you might want to give Brasero a try for burning your ISO.
I agree with Eric. The first assumption is an image corruption: whether due to downloading or burning errors. There is another option to verify ISO integrity. I.e. create (say, Virtualbox
) virtual machine and start it directly from ISO image in question.
Did you use 'new data image' or 'burn DVD ISO image'? It's easy to forget if you haven't burnt one for awhile. I know that happened to me once.
