When you say it's built against GTK2+, does that mean I can continue running GTK3 and not have to install GTK2 at all and install this as another GUI option? I'm currently running Ubuntu + gnome 3.

I just updated and while the graphic above reads "MATE Desktop Environment 1.14.1," my computer show that it has version 1.14. No big deal, but I'm wondering why the difference?

I recently upgraded my Ubuntu Mate 16.04 to Mate Xenial. I followed

instructions from

https://launchpad.net/~ubun...

Everything was fine but my clock applet now crashes like:

===

/usr/lib/mate-panel/clock-applet

(clock-applet:9436): Gtk-ERROR **: GTK+ 2.x symbols detected. Using

GTK+ 2.x and GTK+ 3 in the same process is not supported

Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)

===

I googled without success. I really do not know what to do. Please help

Hello. I'm totally new to Linux. I've followed the instructions above but getting only the terminal after reboot. How can i switch to the MATE GUI?
