MATE menu keyboard shortcut not working

Hi all:

I recently filed a bug about not being able to set Ctrl+ESC as the keyboard shortcut to open the MATE Advance Menu. It is here:

I have been playing around a little more on a fresh Ubuntu 18.04. I can set and remove Ctrl+ESC in the "Keyboard Shortcuts" dialog, so that I am certain that Ctrl+ESC is working fine on my new Lenovo laptop.

I played with the MATE Menu. I did set Ctrl+0, and that worked at first. But now it is not working anymore. In fact, very few keyboard shortcuts work with the MATE Advanced Menu. I suspect the menu has a bug and the keyboard shortcut stops working.

Does anybody know the trick to make this work reliably?

Think there's an option in the Advance MATE menu preferences to set which key press is to launch the menu.
The default is the Supper key (windows key).

Right click the mate menu icon a small menu list should be displayed. Click on Preferences. Some where in there is an option to change what key launchers the menu.

( I'm not in front of my pc at the moment. So I will update steps later.)

Hope this helps

Yes, that is not working. More details in the links above.
