If I run mate-system-monitor and then do Edit > Preferences and change the fields on the Processes tab, after closing and reopening my changes are ignored.
Also, there are many resources that used to be on gnome-system-monitor > Preferences > Resources such as Draw CPU Chart as Stacked Area Chart, etc. that have been removed. This "Let's make software better but removing functionality" is quite annoying.
Mate-system-monitor bugs me. The lack of a sorting search makes life really harder. For the time being, it appears that xfce4-taskmanager is a superior solution for individuals that prefer graphical apps. If you don't mind cli, then htop is preferable.
Huh, you're right. This is obviously a new bug in 22.04, but as you say it's a crippling one, since it makes the tool basically useless in most scenarios.
Something weird is going on: The preference changes that I make in mate-system-monitor (ubuntu-MATE 22.04) are, contrary to your experience, persitant.
I can only suspect an environment or permissions issue.
By the way, this is a fresh install. Are the installs of you guys upgrades or also fresh installs ?
Yes it was what I got when I installed MATE. I fixed it by downloading the source for mate-system-monitor and compiling it up myself. It now saves my preferences. Weird.
