MATErunner? (AKA is now the time for a new power user desktop tool?)

It seems what I am about to propose isn't anywhere new according to Launcher to be included with Ubuntu Mate? - #2 by elcste

So I've just learnt about KRunner which is a versatile command-line widget for interacting with the desktop environment.

Not only is it a command launcher but it acts as a calculator, a measurement and currency converter, music player controller, and even a spell checker - all controllable from the keyboard.

Any plans on having such a great app ever integrated to MATE?

UM is shipped with Rofi, and it's pretty straightforward to write Rofi commands to execute some of the functions you mentioned...For example, I use Rofi to launch applications, similar to MATE's Run Application dialog. Simply bind to a key and you're ready to go. Perhaps it is a easier way to achieve these results.

Thanks for the info, I will certainly start reading...
