Menus missing from all programs in um 18.04

As per title. Running the 64 bit version in Virtualbox

In the past, when this has happened, I have gone into Mate Tweak and turned off, and then back on again, indicators. However, indicators does not seem to be an available option in mate tweak in UM 18.04.

Anybody else having this problem and, if so, how did you fix it?
