Microsoft Linux -- no longer a joke?

Well, I was not shocked to see that news. But there are somewhat mixed feelings, though...

The only comment I have is that the OpenDocuments tools need some developper love to remove the last remaining incompatibilities with importing M-soft document formats (doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, Project, Visio, Outlook, OneNote, Office, etc.).

With that in place, people would be forced to accept that accepting any MS-tweaked version of Linux is a "corrupted", in the purest sense of the word, version of Linux.

ANYTHING which has M$ behind it is simply...TOXIC.

It's nothing to do with Microsoft. It's just the product of a grifter, making money off the Ubuntu and Microsoft trademarks. It's also worth giving a wide berth. They had a telemetry system a while back which was open to the public.

The article is nicely written but this subtitle had me in stiches

A third-party Kubuntu remix with a severe identity crisis

I read about it on Zdnet. Jack Whalen, a decent Linux writer promoted it for newbies but didn't give much information. Not even a download link. I am guessing it was a favor or even a paid promotion. It said it had a free and paid 'Pro' edition. Pro for newbies?
The commentors pretty much shot it down. One said it was only free for a limited number of time, and then it locked some but not all software.
Not something any Ubuntu Mate user would be interested in.

.

Yeah... nope. Just the looks of it gives off a sketchy vibe. Like Popey said, they are making money off trademarks they have violated. If that by itself fails to make people stay away from such, I don't know what will.

Tbf, it's not like you can expect a 1:1 implementation of Windows here in Linux. It might just be time for people to truly accept that they're different. On the other hand, it's not like most mainstream distros aren't trying to accomodate their needs.
