Middle click closing windows

I've recently moved over to Ubuntu Mate 22.04.2 from Windows.

One thing I seem unable to change is that currently middle clicking a window name on the panel immediately closes the window when I would like a new instance of the application created.

Is there anyway to achieve this behaviour?
If not, can the middle click to immediately close be disabled?

Thank you

Hi Barry, welcome to the community

Yes, use 'Plank' dock
You can activate that from control-center -> MATE tweak -> Panel -> Enable Dock

Only by completely removing the Windows-list plugin from the panel.
( Rightclick just left of the Window-list and select 'remove from panel' )

Thank you tkn.
Does your reply mean that if I want to retain the Redmond desktop layout and keep the Window list plugin, I am stuck with the existing behaviour (middle click to close)?
Thanks.

Yes.
If you want to keep the Window list plugin, you are stuck with the existing behaviour.
( the windowlist plugin doesn't have the option to disable middle-click-close )

Understood. Thank you. I'll try and get used to avoiding it. :slightly_smiling_face:
